A seventh-grader from Fulton Science Academy, a charter middle school in Alpharetta, has won first place in Physics in the Junior Division at the Georgia Science and Engineering Fair 2005.
Cory Friedman’s project, “The Effect of Light Frequency on Power Output of a Solar Cell,” also earned him the Discovery Channel Young Scientist Challenge Award, given to top scores for sixth- to eighth-grade projects demonstrating excellence in scientific communication skills. He is nominated to be the top young scientist in a nationwide competition in Washington.
Earlier this year, the 3-year-old Fulton Science Academy finished first in the regional Science Olympiad tournament.
