Please join the Georgia Public Policy Foundation in Georgia’s First City on Wednesday, July 29, as we take our annual Friedman Legacy for Freedom Day on the road again this year with a luncheon event in the beautiful Stoddard Room at Vic’s On the River in Savannah.

Meet Kelly McCutchen, president of Georgia’s only state-focused free-market think tank; Benita Dodd, Foundation vice president, and keynote speaker Dr. Benjamin Scafidi,  Georgia’s foremost education expert, at the noon Policy Briefing Luncheon celebrating the birthday of Nobel Prize winner Milton Friedman.

About Benjamin Scafidi: Dr. Scafidi is director of the Education Economics Center in the Coles College of Business at Kennesaw State University and a Senior Fellow with the Georgia Public Policy Foundation and the Friedman Foundation. Previously, he was a professor of economics and director of the Economics of Education Policy Center at Georgia College & State University and director of education policy for the Georgia Community Foundation Inc., where his research focused on education and urban policy. He was chair of the Georgia Charter Schools Commission, education policy advisor to Gov. Sonny Perdue, on the staff of both of Gov. Roy Barnes’ Education Reform Study Commissions, and an expert witness for the state of Georgia in school funding litigation. The Cobb County resident received his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Virginia and his B.A. in economics from the University of Notre Dame.

About Friedman Legacy for Freedom Day: This annual international celebration marks the birthday of the late Milton Friedman, winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics and a longtime champion of free market causes and school choice. Friedman was born July 31, 1912, and died November 16, 2006. Last year, the Foundation hosted the event in Macon; more than 10,000 people at more than 100 events around the world gathered to recognize Friedman’s life, legacy and ideas.
