Atlanta – Digital marketing professional Keara Vickers joined the staff of the Georgia Public Policy Foundation on September 14, 2020, as Communications Director.
Vickers comes to the Foundation from Carnegie Mellon University, where she was Associate Director for Advancement Communications, responsible for strategy and implementation of social media outreach across a variety of platforms. Before that, she managed social media for Reason Magazine and managed social media, email marketing and website management for the Competitive Enterprise Institute.
Vickers, a native of Moundsville, W. Va., earned a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism from Ohio University’s Scripps School of Journalism.
Kyle Wingfield, President and CEO of the Georgia Public Policy Foundation and a former columnist at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, said he looks forward to Vickers expanding the Foundation’s policy outreach.
Wingfield noted that traditional media coverage, which began shrinking in 2008 amid the economic downturn, has shrunk even further during the COVID-19 pandemic, just as Georgians most need solutions.
“Now, more than ever, Georgians deserve solutions that resonate,” he said. “The Foundation’s message is that the most promising solutions lie not in the heavy hand of government, but in limited government, free enterprise, personal responsibility and individual initiative.
“To communicate that message and add to our policy successes, we need to engage more Georgians, both through traditional media and credible social media outreach.
“Keara’s successes at the national level equip her well to buttress the Foundation’s position as a trusted, independent resource for voters and elected officials as we continue to provide actionable solutions to Georgia’s real-life problems by bringing people together,” Wingfield said.
