Foundation Joins Coalition Applauding Tax Reform Framework

taxreform2Atlanta – The Georgia Public Policy Foundation has joined a coalition of more than 30 state and national conservative and tax policy organizations applauding the Unified Tax Reform Framework as a promising vision for pro-growth tax reform.

In a letter hand-delivered today to every member of the U.S. House of Representatives, the coalition expressed support for tax reform legislation that will raise wages and take-home pay, incentivize domestic investment and level the playing field for American workers and job creators.

“Recent polling shows Americans overwhelmingly support passing comprehensive tax reform, with 73 percent saying it should be an important priority for Congress,” the letter states. “We commend the unified framework put forth by the White House and congressional leaders, including Speaker Ryan, Leader McConnell, Chairman Brady and Chairman Hatch. It’s past time to give tax relief to American middle-class wage earners and allow job creators to compete.”

“Supporting federal tax reform is a no-brainer for the Georgia Public Policy Foundation,” said Kelly McCutchen, president of the Atlanta-based nonprofit public policy research group that has long campaigned for lower tax rates and a broader tax base in Georgia.

“With Georgia’s income tax linked to the federal code, the federal changes should result in new revenue and allow Georgia lawmakers to follow suit and lower our state income tax rate. The result should be that Georgia’s workers will keep even more of their hard-earned dollars.”

Register TODAY for the 2017 Georgia Legislative Policy Forum on Friday, October 13 in Atlanta, where Jonathan Williams, chief economist for the American Legislative Exchange Council, will explain what federal tax reform means for Georgia.
