Andrew Wimer

Director of Media Relations

As the Institute for Justice’s Director of Media Relations, Andrew Wimer works to make the case for economic liberty, free speech, private property rights and school choice in the court of public opinion.

Andrew has served as a policy and communications advisor on Capitol Hill and Washington, DC for Congressmen, business associations, and a cabinet secretary. After interning in the House of Representatives, Andrew worked for Congressman Scott Garrett of New Jersey in various roles. After a short time with the Printing Industries of America, he returned to Capitol Hill as Communications Director to Congressman Joe Pitts of Pennsylvania.

Following his years with Congressman Pitts, Andrew served the small business owners of the National Federation of Independent Business in a media relations role. In 2017, he served as speechwriter to the U.S. Secretary of Labor.

Andrew was born and raised in Florida and graduated from Grove City College in Pennsylvania. He is also a graduate of American University’s public communication master’s program. He lives in Arlington, Virginia with his wife Rachel and son Elliott.
